About Us
Byers Amplifiers is owned and operated by myself,
Trevor Byers. I was fortunate enough to start my career in the Fender Custom
Shop under John Page, where I learned the art of fine instrument building and
woodworking. My experiences there and the relationships with the builders who
took the time to tutor me in their craft was invaluable.

In 1999 I became interested in tube amplifiers and engrossed myself in the
subject. Right then and there I decided to produce amps that were different from
the standard. Current major manufactures seemed to loose their roots and focus
on the visually vintage aspect rather than the total product, often loosing
quality by using cheaper components and manufacturing techniques. Several
boutique builders were making reproductions of the five or six most famous amps
with nothing really special and new. I wanted to touch on the ideas and tones of
early amps and incorporate new design elements for today's versatile player and
collector.

George Fullerton (Fender/G and L) gave me ideas and suggestions about the
importance of original design and quality. His thoughts on creating, and not
just imitating, laid the foundation for my designs. Bill Sterel worked as an
engineer for Fender in the early 60's. His contributions include circuit design
work for the famous black face series of amps. Bill took an interest in me and
passed down a wealth of information about tube circuit design for guitar. In
taking what I learned from both of them and spending countless hours designing.
Each of our amps is hand made right here in Corona, California and each piece is
crafted as if it were our own. We take pride making beautiful pieces that can
take center stage with you!
